The aspect between the signs
The same sign twice is counted as a conjunction. Both people start from the same temperament, the same way of acting and the same ruling planet. The tradition reads this as recognition first, and as a shared blind spot second: neither supplies what the sign tends to lack.
Elements and modalities
Two water signs share both qualities, cold and moist. Feeling runs deep and moods carry from one to the other.
Both signs adjust: mutable signs close the seasons and carry things over into the next.
The rulers
The ruler is Jupiter, shared because the sign is shared: what it governs works the same way in both people.
Jupiter stands for: expansion, meaning, confidence, excess.
Modern astrology also assigns Neptune to Pisces. The reading here uses the traditional rulers; the modern ones are in the table.
The two signs together
Pisces tends to bring sympathy: imagination, intuition and a gentle ear. It tends to need gentleness, and clear boundaries it does not have to enforce alone.
Two receptive, imaginative people. Sympathy is immediate, and so is the difficulty of deciding whose feeling is whose.
What tends to come easily
- Little needs explaining, because each knows the other’s reflexes.
- Understanding is often intuitive.
- Flexible, and change is tolerated.
- The same planet drives both, so motives are easy to read.
What tends to cost something
- The same weak spot is present twice, and neither person is placed to cover it.
- Moods amplify, and nobody stands outside them.
- Direction can be missing, and decisions drift.
- Whatever the ruler overdoes, it overdoes twice.
What two Sun signs cannot say
Two Sun signs are a small part of two charts. The Moon, Venus, Mars, the rising sign and the houses of each person shape how a relationship goes, and so do age, circumstance and choice.
The aspect here is counted between signs, not between degrees. Two people born at the start and at the end of the same sign stand differently from two born at the same degree, and this page cannot tell which applies.
To compare two actual people, the synastry tool takes both birth dates and shows the aspects between the planets.
